Sleep (2023)

Sleep (2023) started from a casual conversation about making a new film. It was first going to be an 8-hour study of stillness, but it turned into a 5-hour 21-minute look at how we spend time on our phones. I shot it during the last week of 2023. It is about the grip of the mobile phone and the blur between the virtual and the real.

It is a personal project. It is about that specific feeling of getting lost in a device, and how easily everything else disappears.

All the audio is original. I did not want to use copyrighted material, so every sound, from ambient drones to clips from my older projects, is mine.

There is a nod to Warhol’s Sleep, and to my own 2013 version. But this one is about current habits, screens, and time leaking away.
